Not every area in Colorado has banned pit bulls. The following chart shows which areas have bans. Also what specific breeds are banned in that area. The list was to confusing so we made it simple.
*Aurora is currently looking into changing this ban.
What States have a Ban on Pit Bulls.
These states are California, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, and Florida.
Denver Pit Bull Law
Cities that banned Pit Bulls.
Denver, Broomfield, Commerce City, Aurora, Lonetree and Fort Lupton.

with the chart above take a good look because if your dog is not that specific breed in that specific area. Then you do not have a dog that is banned.
Keep in Mind the reason for the ban of the specific breeds. Is that the law sees these pets can cause injury
Is your dog banned?
If the City even thinks that it has traits resembling a banned dog.
They can impound your dog. Many time they have. Your dog will be taken to a shelter and they will test the dog to see if it matches the banned breed.
This test will only be conducted if you choose to pay for it. The test will not be done on the cities dime.
If you choose not to pay they keep your Pit.
If you choose to pay and it is determined to be a pit. You will either relinquish your rights or the dog will have to be moved to an area not carrying the ban.
While the authorities may have the ability to impound a dog with pit bull traits, it may not happen unless the dog is running loose or attacks someone
This means that there are many people who choose to disregard the ban and still choose to keep pit bulls in their homes.
Many people have went the route to having their dog assigned as an emotional support dog. In hopes to avoid unnecessary hassle
