There are so many speculations of this origination that even Wikipedia has some insights.
Wikipedia tells us many origins from different American cities like Chicago, Miami, New York.
Other sources tell us that the White Party started in Saint Tropez, France and didn’t get to the States until the 80’s.

Since the creation the White Party has become more than just an event. It’s now treated like a national holiday; White Parties differ widely between states.
Now, it’s possible to go to many White Parties through-out the country. Since there are so many popping up in every city. White Parties have become almost year around.
It’s now possible to attend a white party in Europe and still make one in Cali and Chicago.

1* Do check with the promoter site to see what are the accent colors.
2* Do make sure you eat before you get dresses.
3* If you decide to have some drinks it is a good idea to stick with clear alcohol for the night.
4* Do attempt to get your tickets early. These event get very pricey as you near the event date.
5* Do Try to get a table, booth or cabana. These events are packed and standing around all night can get tiresome.
6* Do remember to eat before you get dressed up. Last minute spill will ruin.
7* Don’t try to attend unless you are 20% or less in accent colors if allowed. Many ticket holders have been turned away at the door.
8* Don’t Worry so much about the outfit. Because Everyone is wearing the some color it is very hard to tell what exactly you have on.
The basic setup is really all that is needed. short dress, long dress, shorts, pants, etc.
9* Don’t forget your tickets. This may seem simple; however unless you are on a guest list, no ticket means no entry. These events are heavily promoted and they do not know anything but guest list and ticket.
